Chancellor’s message to all those affected by the Kumamoto earthquakes

Our hearts go out to the people of Kumamoto and the surrounding areas who have been so tragically affected by the powerful earthquakes and their aftermath.

Words cannot express the unimaginable grief and suffering Kumamoto’s residents are now facing. As we closely follow the updates on the rescue operations and those who are taking shelter, our deepest respect goes to those organizations and the people who are working tirelessly to help in this dire calamity.

At Chuo University, we are committed to providing as much support as we can so that our students with families and relatives in the disaster areas are able to continue their studies. We will take whatever action we can so that people will be able to return to their homes as quickly as possible.

On behalf of the Chuo community, I send our sincere wishes for everyone’s safety and recovery.

Shozaburo Sakai
Chancellor and President, Chuo University
