On January 8, 2016, Mr. Kazuki Okimura (special advisor to Japan Science and Technology Agency [organization under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology], a member of the external evaluation committee of Chuo University and graduate of the Faculty of Law, Chuo University) received the Award for International Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the People's Republic of China in 2015 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing in the presence of national leaders, including the President Xi Jinping and the Premier Li Keqiang.

This award was created by the State Council of China in 1994 as the most honorable award to be conferred to foreign experts who have contributed remarkably to the scientific and technological cooperation in China. Up until now, 101 (and 2 institutions) from 17 countries have received this award.

Mr. Kazuki Okimura received this award from the Premier Li Keqiang as the second awardee among 7 awardees, for actively contributing to the mutual understanding and cooperative development between Japan and China in the fields of science and technology for many years.

He is the 12th recipient of this award as Japanese and the first in the administration of Xi Jinping and also as a former administrative officer.
