A research proposal by Professor Taro Nakamura (Department of Precision Mechanics, Faculty of Science and Engineering) was selected for Development of Core Technology for Next-Generation Robots, a public application program of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
Proposal theme:
Development of a revolutionary soft actuator system which possesses variable viscoelastic properties for wearable assist devices which have high affinity with human beings.
The Biomechatronics Laboratory (Nakamura Laboratory) led by Professor Taro Nakamura is developing robots which mimic the function and structure of organisms such as worms, snails and water striders, as well as air-pressurized artificial muscle featuring revolutionary new mechanisms. Videos of research results can be viewed on the laboratory website. Please visit the link listed below.
