On Wednesday, May 27, 2015, delegates from one of our partner institutions, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, visited Chuo University’s Korakuen Campus.
The visiting members from USST were Hu Shougen, President, Ma Xiaoting, Head of International Affairs, Li Haolin, Dean of Mechanical Engineering, Huang Yuandong, Dean of Environment and Architecture, Ding Xiaohong, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and He Weiming, Director of Japanese Culture Center. From Chuo, Toshikazu Kato, Vice President, and Yasushi Ishii, Dean of Science and Engineering welcomed the guests.
After exchanging information about the strengths of both universities, the group toured around Korakuen campus. USST President Hu and other members were especially keen to learn about Chuo’s research on environmental issues. The members went to see the hydrogeological laboratory, anacoustic laboratory, and nano-biomodeling laboratory.
Following the campus tour, there was a pilot web meeting between Chuo’s Korakuen and Tama campuses, and USST.
During the friendly discussion afterwards with Chuo’s Chancellor and President Shozaburo Sakai, the members actively exchanged opinions about Chuo’s SEND program (overseas Japanese teaching program) and future possibilities for double degree programs. Chuo’s President Sakai also made suggestions to organize USST lectures and symposiums at Tama Campus in the near future.
We are excited to continue building our relationship and look forward to further exchanges.
