Professor Yasuhiro Izumikawa of the Faculty of Policy Studies at Chuo conducts his research focused on international relations and Japanese foreign policy after World War II. His research especially centers around the analysis of post-war alliances and alignments in Northeast Asia.

On February 11, 2015, Professor Izumikawa gave a lecture at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, titled “Japan’s Northeast Asia Policy Under Abe.” In this lecture, Professor Izumikawa examined Abe’s foreign policy approach in Northeast Asia, with a particular focus on Russia, and explained the logic behind Tokyo’s strategic choices and the implications for Washington.

Professor Izumikawa’s lecture can be heard on the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace podcast, linked below. http://carnegieendowment.org/2015/02/11/japan-s-northeast-asia-policy-under-abe/i0uxnew window
