Kendo with JENESYS 2.0 China

On December 4, 2014, over 60 students from five Chinese partner universities visited Chuo’s Tama Campus to participate in a joint sports exchange event promoted by the Foreign Ministry’s JENESYS 2.0 project for exchange with students in East Asia. The students came from Peking University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Renmin University of China, University of International Business and Economics, and Beijing Institute of Technology.

The staff at Chuo’s International Office led the guests for a tour around Tama Campus, including C Square and the university library. Afterwards, 40 students from Chuo’s Kendo Team joined the group at the gymnasium for a joint kendo practice. The students from China brought their own kendo gears and practiced together with the Chuo students following a welcoming speech by Chuo’s kendo team Captain Murakami and Coach Majima.

As the day ended with a friendly photo session, the students enjoyed a cross-cultural exchange through kendo, gaining a valuable experience between universities. We look forward to further exchange events in the future.
