New Year’s Greetings from the Chancellor and President

Happy New Year! I extend my warmest greetings to you all.

This year marks Chuo University’s 130th anniversary since its foundation. Established under the philosophy of “Fostering the Ability to Apply Knowledge to Practice” and together with the spirit of “One Chuo,” we are committed to carrying on the tradition of providing practical education based on empirical and rational thinking. We are especially focused on leveraging government funding to promote Global Human Resource Development, creating more academic and student exchanges with international institutions as we continue our rapid globalization. Furthermore, Chuo is committed to facilitating world-class collaborative research with international partners and to developing and enhancing our reputation for research of the highest international quality. Underlying our efforts to nurture global young people, our educational philosophy is represented by three key concepts: Diversity, Dialogue and Dignity. Diversity as a foundation for respecting differences, Dialogue as the means for mutual understanding, and Dignity for ensuring a clear worldview.

Chuo strives to ensure a wide variety of opportunities for students to broaden their academic, social and professional horizons, both inside and outside of Japan. In addition, we are committed to fostering a sense of global citizenship and a vision of sustainable planetary stewardship for the Chuo Community as a whole, including students, teachers, staff and graduates.

On the threshold of another promising year of growth and development, I would like to ask the entire Chuo Community, our students, alumni, faculty, and all Chuo stakeholders, for your understanding, support and participation to ensure that 2015 is an especially successful year.
