On December 4th, 2013, 3 professors* (including the Dean of the College of Engineering) from Korea’s Dongguk University visited the Chuo University Faculty of Science and Engineering in order to survey the educational system for systematic competency development at Chuo University. These esteemed guests were greeted by Chuo University faculty members Professor Yasushi Ishii (Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering), Professor Toshikazu Kato (Vice President) and Professor Mitsunori Makino (program leader), who explained about the program and answered questions from the visitors.

Compared to Japan, Korea places much greater emphasis on stricter accreditation for specialized fields. As a method for guaranteeing the quality of higher education, visitors from Dongguk University expressed a high level of interest in the Faculty of Science and Engineering’s system for education and achievement checks used to systematically develop knowledge and behavioral characteristics.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering will continue its efforts to conduct education for systematic competency development through partnerships and interaction with educational institutions both inside Japan and overseas.
