Swimming Team Produces Winners

The 89th Intercollege Swimming Championship was held from September 6th (Fri.) to 8th (Sun.) at Hiroshima Bigwave (Hiroshima City’s comprehensive indoor swimming pool). Although they were last year’s champion, the Chuo University Swimming Team narrowly missed winning the overall championship. However, our school finished a strong 2nd place, overwhelming the 3rd place team with a gap of 78.5 points.

There were also outstanding individual performances by Chuo swimmers. Shinri Shioura (4th-year student in the Faculty of Law) won his event by posting a championships record of 48.56 seconds, just short of a new Japanese record. Yuji Kanno (3rd-year student in the Faculty of Economics) won the men’s 100 meter butterfly. Yet another victory was posted in the men’s 400 meter relay (Miyamoto, Ishibashi, Yano and Shioura).

Many other student-athletes from the Chuo Swimming Team advanced to the finals and placed high in their events. (See the following list of swimmers finishing in the top 10.)

Thank you for supporting our athletes!
