Japan won all of its games in route to winning Division II, Group A of the 2013 IIHF World U20 Championships which were held from December 3rd to 17th in Brasov, Romania. Representing Japan were three members of the Chuo University Ice Hockey Team: Kazuya Koizumi, Shogo Nakajima and Makuru Furuhashi.
In recognition of their outstanding performances, Makuru was selected as Japan's best player in the 3rd game against Holland, and Shogo was selected in the 5th game against Lithuania.
As a result of the victory, Japan's team will be promoted to Division I, Group B at the 2014 IIHF World U20 Championships.
