American Football Club Members Selected to IFAF U-19

American Football Club members Yushiro Hirata (2nd year student in the Faculty of Economics) and Masashi Yamazaki (2nd year student in the Faculty of Commerce) have been selected to represent Japan Under-19 team and participated in the 2nd IFAF U-19 World Championships Texas Tournament 2012.

This tournament was the world championships for players under 19 years old that is sponsored by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). A total of eight countries participated in this tournament from the four confederations of the IFAF (America, Europe, Asia and Oceania). Last time, at the 1st tournament, the Japanese team took third place.

Their opening match took place on Saturday June 30 (local time) with the team winning 27-6 to advance to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they lost 33-24 in the semi-final played on Wednesday July 4 (local time) to last year's runners-up Canada. In the consolation game on Saturday July 7 (local time), Japanese team beat Austria 7-0, and took third place.
