Our volleyball team (men's) won the 31st East Japan Student Volleyball Championships held from June 27 (Wed) to July 1 (Sun) (Venue: Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center Kitayell, etc).
In the final, after Chuo captured the first two sets, Kanto University League champion Tokai University fought back to even the match, and on top of that, Chuo lost Captain Sogo Watanabe (4th year student in the Faculty of Law) to injury at the end of the fourth set.
It was rookie Takuro Tsukamoto (1st year student in the Faculty of Economics) who saved Chuo from this perilous situation. After a thrilling five-setter, Chuo stuck it out to win in style.
As well as Captain Sogo Watanabe being named tournament MVP, Ryota Denda (3rd year student in the Faculty of Economics) was awarded the Spike Prize, Taro Mori (3rd year student in the Faculty of Policy Studies), the Receiver Prize and Libero Prize, and Masahiro Sekita (1st year student in the Faculty of Law), the Setter Prize.
Also, Coach Rio Matsunaga was awarded the Winning Coach Prize for leading his team to victory only three months after being appointed coach.
The Kanto University Volleyball Autumn League will take place in mid-September. Thank you for your continuing support to help them exert this ability again and win the title.
