Japanese Athletics Championships

The Japanese athletics championships, which doubled as the final selection meet for the London Olympic Games, were held on June 8 (Fri) -10 (Sun) at Nagai Stadium in Osaka.

Many athletes from our men's and women's teams participated and fought hard (below are the results of those who advanced to finals).

<Men>
100m 4th Shota Iizuka (3rd year student, Faculty of Law) 10.36 sec
200m 2nd Shota Iizuka (3rd year student, Faculty of Law) 20.45 sec
1500m 6th Shota Shinjo (2nd year student, Faculty of Law) 3min 47.48sec
400m hurdles 3rd Tetsuya Tateno (3rd year student, Faculty of Commerce) 49.49 sec

400m hurdles 6th Manami Kira (3rd year student, Faculty of Commerce) 58.14 sec
Long jump 4th Tamaka Shimizu (3rd year student, Faculty of Letters) 6m 14cm

With athletes winning their events and topping the Olympic A standard being selected for the Olympic team, exciting battles unfurled in each event.

Unfortunately we didn't have any winners, but Shota Iizuka in the 200m and Tetsuya Tateno in the 400m hurdles both topped the Olympic A standard.

As there is a possibility of them being selected to the Olympic team, we ask for your continuing support.
