Yohei Takiguchi (1st year student in the Faculty of Law) of the Physical Education League Swimming Club, Chuo University Association of Student Clubs, won the 1,500-meter freestyle at the 53rd Japan Short Course (25 meters) Swimming Championships held at the Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center from the 10th to 12th of February. His winning time of 14:39:22 was only 0.16 seconds slower than the Japanese record. He also placed 6th in the 400-meter freestyle.
Other notable finishers were Chiaki Ishibashi (2nd year student in the Faculty of Policy Studies), who placed 3rd in the 200-meter freestyle, Yamato Ujibayashi (3rd year student in the Faculty of Policy Studies), who placed 4th in the 50-meter backstroke, 7th in the 100-meter backstroke, and 8th in the 200-meter backstroke, and Takuya Nozawa (4th year student in the Faculty of Economics), who placed 3rd in the 100-meter butterfly.

Yohei Takiguchi is scheduled to participate in the 88th Japan Swimming Championships (Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center), which are also a qualifier for the 30th Olympic Games, in London from the 2nd to the 8th of April.
