Professor Nobuo Sasaki (Faculty of Economics) appointed as a member of the Science Council of Japan

On October 1st, Nobuo Sasaki, Professor of Politics, Faculty of Economics, was selected as a member of the Science Council of Japan (Cabinet Office), an institution which seeks to improve scientific technology and academics in Japan. The council represents 840 thousand scientists throughout Japan.

The council is composed of 210 members from the fields of humanities, social sciences, life sciences, and science and engineering, as well as from approximately 2,000 affiliated members. This year marked the election for half of members serving 6-year terms. Professor Sasaki was appointed by the Prime Minister as 1 of 72 members in the fields of humanities and social sciences. Professor Sasaki's areas of expertise include public administration and municipal government, and he serves as Chairperson of the Japanese Society for Local Democracy.

One member was selected from Chuo University during the most recent elections. In the future, we expect that Professor Sasaki will provide policy proposals to the Japanese government and will work to form a deeper partnership of mutual cooperation between scientists.
