Sota Kawatsura (4th year student in the Faculty of Law) tops the A qualifying mark for the World Athletic Championships 200m in his victory at the 90th Kanto Inter-University Athletics Championships

Sota Kawatsura (4th year student in the Faculty of Law) of the Chuo University Student's Association Athletic Federation Track & Field topped the World Athletics Championships A qualifying standard with a winning time of 20.56 seconds (賊0.0) in the men's 200m event at the 90th Kanto Inter-University Athletics Championships held at the National Stadium on May 22. Kawatsura completed a treble by also capturing the men's 100m and men's 4x100m relay, and was crowned tournament MVP.
Genki Kawai (4th year student in the Faculty of Letters) placed 8th in the same event.

The women's athletic team was also extremely successful at the tournament, winning a total of seven events.
Mai Shinozuka (1st year student in the Faculty of Commerce) won the 5000m in a time of 16 minutes 27.88 seconds, and completed the long-distance double with victory in the women's 10000m race. Other wins included Tomomi Yoneda (3rd year student in the Faculty of Letters) in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.10 seconds, Emika Aoki (1st year student in the Faculty of Letters) in the women's high jump with a jump of 1m70cm, and Suzuka Akai (3rd year student in the Faculty of Letters) in the women's heptathlon, winning with a total of 5092 points.
In addition, the women's 4x400m relay team won for the second consecutive year in a time of 3 minutes 45.51 seconds.

In the inter-university championships, the men's athletics team finished in 5th place overall, and the women's team in 2nd. We would like to thank everyone for their support.

Athletes who performed well at this meet will participate in the 95th Japan National Championship held at the Kumagaya Sports Culture Park, Saitama on June 10-12 to be selected to represent Japan for the 13th IAAF World Athletics Championships held in Daegu, South Korea.
