Volume 1 of The Japanese Edge-Japanese Power Presented to the World with Pride, May 18^th, 2011 (released on May 11^th) is part of Newsweek Japan's special commemoration of its 25 anniversary. In The Japanese Edge, a special feature entitled 25 Japanese People Respected by the World, two Chuo University graduates are named, Osamu Suzuki (Suzuki Chairperson, 1953 graduate from the Faculty of Law) and Rumiko Seya (Secretariat of the Japan Center for Conflict Prevention, 1999 graduate from the Faculty of Policy Studies).

Together with actor Ken Watanabe and tennis player Kimiko Date-Krum, the Chuo graduates were selected as two of 25 new-age Japanese who are breaking cultural barriers through innovative ideas and power.

The article written by Newsweek Japan featured a detailed introduction of how the autobiography written by Osamu Suzuki is fervently read by company executives in China. The article also explained how Rumiko Seya played an important role in negotiations with armed insurgents during the process led by the Japanese government to restore public safety in conflict-affected regions of Afghanistan.
