Chuo Graduate Nobori Kiuchi wins Naoki Prize for her novel, Hyosa no Utau

The selection meeting for the 144th Akutagawa Prize and Naoki Prize (sponsored by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Literature) was held on the 17th of January, and the Naoki Prize was awarded to Chuo graduate Nobori Kiuchi.

Her winning work, Hyosa no Utau (Shuei Inc.), is a novel depicting the life of a former soldier pimping women in Tokyo's red-light district in the early Meiji Period.

Ms. Kiuchi follows in the footsteps of fellow graduates Go Osaka (96th prize), Kageki Shimoda (83rd prize), and Yoshie Wada (50th prize) as a recipient of this award.
