2 Chuo University graduates are appointed as Supreme Court judges

At a Cabinet meeting held on November 27th, the government appointed 3 new judges to succeed Supreme Court judges who will reach retirement age. Those 3 judges included the 2 Chuo University graduates listed below.

Mr. Masahiko Sudo
1966 graduate from the Chuo University Faculty of Law; lawyer
Mr. Tomoyuki Yokota
1969 graduate from the Chuo University Faculty of Law; former assistant prosecutor general, lawyer

There are very few Supreme Court judges who have graduated from private universities. The appointment (scheduled) of the 2 individuals listed above follows former Chuo University graduates Mr. Chiharu Saiguchi (1961 graduate of the Faculty of Law), who was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun during a conferment ceremony this past autumn, and Mr. Tatsuo Kainaka (1962 graduate of the Faculty of Law), who is scheduled to retire from his position as judge.
