We welcome Dominic Eggel, Ph.D. at Chuo to give a speech introducing the Graduate Institute, and lecture on the history of ideas and political thought in ancient Europe up to the late 18th century.

The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is one of the world窶冱 leading centres of teaching and research focusing on international relations and development issues. The Graduate Institute offers a wide range of postgraduate (master and PhD) programmes in international relations, international law, international history, international economics, anthropology and development studies and awards over 200 scholarships (for a total student body of 800). The Institute has a long-standing reputation of excellence and is home to a diverse and vibrant group of students and faculty from all over the world (80% of students are international).

As a member of APSIA, regrouping the world窶冱 most renowned schools of international affairs, the Graduate Institute is regularly quoted amongst Europe窶冱 best institutions in the field. It counts amongst its alumni Kofi Annan (former UN secretary general), Hans-Gert Pテカttering (former President of the European Parliament), Hernando de Soto (President of Peru窶冱 Institute for Liberty and Democracy), Nobuyuki Idei (former Chairman of Sony Corporation), as well as the foreign ministers of Switzerland, Micheline Calmy-Rey (retired 2012), and Mexico, Patricia Espinosa.
