Song of Regret at Parting was composed by Mr. Fujie when he was a student of the preparatory course of Chuo University at a military arsenal in Itabashi where he was mobilized to. The song is based on friendship and pain of separation from a friend at the preparatory course who received a call-up paper to go off to war (lyrics by Toson Shimazaki). He will give a lecture to Chuo University students about the background of Song of Regret at Parting with determination for peace.

Mr. Fujie was born in 1926. After graduating from the Faculty of Law, Chuo University, he joined Shinchosha, edited Shukan Shincho (weekly magazine) and Shosetsu Shincho (monthly literary journal) and became the chief of advertising bureau. After leaving the company, he started running a company.

At the event, a journalist Mr. Ryusho Kadota, who is a Chuo University alumnus, will also give a lecture. Mr. Kadota has a close friendship with Mr. Fujie and introduced Song of Regret at Parting in his bestselling book Yasuko, 19 years old—Diary of War Damage (published by Bungeishunju Ltd.). It is planned that music research society glee club and brass band of Chuo University will perform and offer a singing lesson.

Chuo University alumni and all neighborhood residents as well as Chuo University students are welcome.
