On March 28, the final day of men's figure skating competition in the 2015 World Figure Skating Championships was held in Shanghai, China. The day before, Waseda University student Yuzuru Hanyu (Waseda University Distance Education Program, School of Human Sciences; graduate of Tohoku High School, sponsored by ANA) posted a short program score of 95.20, which was his best score this season and put him in first place. During the free program held on the 28th, he scored 175.88, good for a total score of 271.08 and the silver medal.

This is Hanyu’s third medal in the World Figure Skating Championships, having won a bronze medal in 2012 and a gold medal in 2014. He made the winner's podium for the second consecutive year.
