Performing together with professional musicians in the venerable Suntory Hall

Holding of the Waseda University Special Concert with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra

On December 10, 2014, the Waseda University Special Concert with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra was held at Suntory Hall by the Waseda University Cultural Affairs Division. The concert was a special event in which junior high school, high school and university students majoring in music performed together with the professional musicians of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and chief conductor Sachio Fujioka of the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra. Student groups participating in the concert were the Waseda University Glee Club, the Chamber Choir of Waseda University and Japan Women’s University, the Brass Band Club of Waseda Jitsugyo Gakko, and the Wind Band of Waseda Setsuryo High School. Excellent performances of Wagner and Verdi were given at the venerable Suntory Hall. At the end of the concert, the performers and audience joined together for a chorus of the Waseda school song and “Glory of Waseda.” The final curtain fell over a lasting sensation of thrill and enjoyment.
