The Hirayama Ikuo Volunteer Center (WAVOC)

Winning the Global Prize of the 1st Asahi Innovative Education Prize

The Asahi Innovative Education Prize was established in 2014 by the Asahi Shimbun Company in order to support advanced educational ventures. In recognition of our advanced projects, the Hirayama Ikuo Volunteer Center (WAVOC) was selected from among 270 applicants and was honored with the Global Prize of the 1st Asahi Innovative Education Prize.

The Global Prize commends education which focuses on the ability to live in a global era. Encouraged by this honor, WAVOC take continued action in 2015 to further expand volunteer-related courses and volunteer projects in a variety of fields. WAVOC will also develop education and research to cultivate professionals who will contribute to society both in Japan and overseas, and to enable students to apply their experiences in society to their learning and career formation.
