Send-off party for Sochi Winter Olympics and Paralympics

4 students and 9 alumni represent Japan

Waseda Sports has a tradition of historical glory, with countless students, alumni and faculty members participating as athletes, coaches and staff at the Olympics and Paralympics. From Waseda, 4 students and 9 graduates will represent Japan at the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Additionally, 5 alumni will participate as coaches and staff.

A send-off party for Olympic participants was held at the Okuma Kaikan on January 20 with attendance from athletes Yurie Adachi, Yui Sakai, Biba Sakurai and Moemi Kikuchi. After the Cheerleading Club led a chorus of “Azure Sky” and the “Waseda School Song,” each of the athletes discussed their aspirations. President Kamata also offered a message of encouragement. Spurred on by their pride of Waseda, the athletes pledged to give their best performance.
