Pursuing a new form of university education

Commemorating the 10th anniversary of e-school

Party held at the Tokorozawa Campus co-op cafeteria

Founded in April 2003, Waseda e-school was Japan’s first correspondence course curriculum, offering almost all classes via the internet with the exception of schooling. Since its founding, the school has produced 764 graduates. A ceremony to commemorate e-school’s 10th anniversary was held on July 27th on the Tokorozawa Campus. The ceremony was attended by university officials such as academic staff, educational coaches as well as many alumni from distant locations, and current students. The ceremony started with a congratulatory speech given by Mayor Masato Fujimoto of Tokorozawa City. Next, a special dance performance of renjishi (lion dance) was given by Hanayagi Yoshijiro VI, who currently studies at e-school. The event continued with a commemorative address, panel discussion and party attended by nearly 300 people. The memorable day concluded with a chorus of the school song led by Cheerleading Club.
