Considering the possibility of social reform through business

A crosstalk was held

On January 11th, the Hirayama Ikuo Volunteer Center (WAVOC) cooperated with The Body Shop to hold a joint lecture and talk session regarding the form of sustainable corporate social activities under the theme of "fair trade." To start the event, President Takeshi Fukumoto of The Body Shop Japan gave a speech entitled "The Possibility of Social Reform through Business-The Body Shop as an example of happy bonds brought by community fair trade." Next, Assistant Professor Chika Hyodo moderated a crosstalk featuring Akiko Mera, Executive Director of the NPO Oxfam Japan, and Ayaka Sawabe (3rd-year student at School of Humanities and Social Sciences), who is a member of the official WAVOC project Cafaire. The speakers discussed fair trade activities in each of their organizations and their vision for the future. The event was an opportunity for attending students to consider their involvement with fair trade as consumers, as well as future working members of society.
