Implementing educational programs for working professionals in order to cultivate next-generation leaders

Scene from the lively sessions

On March 19, a joint session was held by the WNLP (Waseda Next-Generation Leader Program), an educational program which is conducted by Waseda University for working professionals who aim to become next-generation leaders for top Japanese major corporations, and the ETP (Executive Training Programme), a program for young businesspeople from EU countries. Associate Professor Jyusuke Ikegami of the Center for International Education (currently a research fellow at the Faculty of Commerce) served as Coordinator. The session was observed by President Kamata and other university officials.

In the program, WNLP participants from Mitsubishi Estate Home Co., Ltd. and Mitsui Chemicals, Inc., etc. hold sessions with popular professors from top schools in the U.S. and Europe, and address issues within their company by giving presentations in English regarding such issues. The program was held a total of 8 times since January, with 3 times being "Multicultural Sessions" held together with the ETP. The EU has entrusted Waseda University to coordinate the ETP. For participants from both programs, the sessions were an opportunity to discuss cross-cultural management with businesspeople from Japan and Europe.
