Recognizing outstanding achievements in scientific technology

4 Waseda faculty members win the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

Award-winners have been announced for the 2013 Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). The 4 Waseda faculty members listed below won an award. The awards ceremony was held on April 16th

Through this award, the MEXT recognizes the achievements of individuals who have realized outstanding results for research, development and increased understanding towards scientific technology. The award seeks to motivate individuals involved in scientific technology and to improve the standards for scientific technology in Japan. We look forward to further performance by the 4 faculty members who were recognized.

Prizes for Science and Technology Research Category

*Awarded to individuals who conduct highly unique research or development which has the possibility of contributing to the growth of scientific technology in Japan

Professor Hiroyuki Nishide (Faculty of Science and Engineering)
Professor Kenichi Oyaizu (Faculty of Science and Engineering)
Research on radical high polymer creation, charge conveyance and electric storage elements.
Professor Kazuyuki Kuroda (Faculty of Science and Engineering) Advanced research in fabrication of mesoporous materials.

The Young Scientists’ Prize
*Awarded to young researchers (under 41 years old) who have shown high-level research/development ability and who have realized outstanding research results in research that is creative and groundbreaking.
