Waseda University selected for coordination

28th to 30th classes of the EU Executive Japan Training Programme (ETP) sponsored by the European Union

On January 10th, the European Union (EU) held the ETP 28th Opening Ceremony at the Delegation of the European Union to Japan to welcome the 28th class of participants in the Executive Japan Training Programme (ETP). This professional development program is sponsored by the EU and trains young EU businesspeople to conduct business in Japan. The program started in 1979 and has more than 30 years of history. Continuing from the 25th to 27th classes (2006 to 2010), Waseda University was selected to coordinate the 28th to 30th classes (starting January 2013).

“Through this high quality program, I hope that trainees will further deepen their knowledge regarding all facets of Japan, as well as their specialized knowledge,” said President Kamata when expressing his expectations for the program in his opening speech. “Moreover, I hope that trainees will become professionals who act as a bridge between the EU and Japan.” 31 members of the 28th class will take classes at Waseda University from January to July. Afterwards, they will undergo internships at Japanese corporations. Trainees are scheduled to return to their home countries in November.
