Participation from 500 Tomon economists

Holding the Waseda Tomon Economists Gathering 2013

On January 28th, our school held the “Waseda Tomon Economists Gathering 2013” with participation from Waseda alumni who are active in the economic community both in Japan and overseas. In addition to conveying the “current” conditions at Waseda University, this gathering is an opportunity for exchange between Tomon economists. This year marked the 3rd time that the event was held.

At the gathering, about 500 business leaders assembled at their alma mater Waseda University. The first section of the gathering began with an opening address given by President Kamata. Next, Vice-President Hashimoto gave a lecture on “Waseda Vision 150,” a mid-and-long-term plan which sets goals to be achieved by the time of our 150th anniversary. The second section featured a speech by Mr. Jun Kamei, President of Ito-Yokado Co., Ltd., who represented all Tomon economists in expressing his passionate hopes for the actions of Waseda University. A speech was also given by Mr. Moon Gyu Yeong , a member of the Korea University Economists Association. The lively gathering was an outstanding opportunity for Tomon economists to network and strengthen relationships with their alma mater Waseda University.
