Establishment of a new recruitment system for volunteer projects

The Hirayama Ikuo Volunteer Center (WAVOC) greets its 10th anniversary

Everyone greeted WAVOC's 10th anniversary together

WAVOC is an institution which implements courses and projects under the keywords of "social contribution" and "experience-based learning." On November 11th, WAVOC celebrated its 10th anniversary by holding a commemorative event at Ono Memorial Auditorium. In the first section, Takayasu Okushima (1st Director of the center and former President of Waseda University) passionately discussed episodes from the time of the center's founding. Next, students, alumni, faculty and staff who participated in WAVOC activities discussed their involvement and memories of WAVOC, which served as an opportunity to reflect on the time spent together. The second section featured a social event, speeches by alumni and presentations by faculty and staff. After greeting its 10th anniversary, WAVOC begins a new journey forward by moving its office to Building No. 9 STEP 21 and by establishment of a new recruitment system for volunteer projects. A WAVOC Tomonkai was also established. In the future, students, faculty, staff and alumni will work to promote social contribution.
