Japanese and American officials share opinions on educational exchange

Experts discuss the current state of Japan-America educational exchange

On April 9th, a "Japan-America Higher Education Panel" was held by Waseda University at the Rihga Royal Hotel Tokyo. The panel featured participation from various entities including the US-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange (CULCON), the MEXT, the United States Embassy, the Japan-U.S. Educational Commission, the US National Science Foundation, and the 7 universities selected for the Project to Strengthen the Global Expansion Ability of Universities B-I (the University of Tokyo, the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Nagoya University, Akita International University, Keio University, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Waseda University). Experts on the frontline of Japan and America discussed the current status of Japan-America educational exchange, as well as the background of related problems.

Educational exchange between Japan and America is important for cultivating professionals in both countries, as well as for cooperating to solve various global issues. Participants in the discussion reaffirmed their awareness of exchange and agreed that it is necessary to establish effective measures for expanding numerical exchange.
