On February 22nd, Waseda University and the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT Director Miyahara) concluded an agreement for promoting cooperation in the field of information and communications. In the future, NICT's human interface technology for voice recognition and translation will be combined with Waseda's robotic technology and wealth of research related to translation and grammar. This partnership will promote research in fundamental technology which can be converted for use in nursing care robots that understand speech and perform appropriate nursing care/lifestyle support.

Waseda University already participates in InterACT, an international symposium related to voice information processing. Our university plans to continue activities with the goal of creating a network to make Japanese technology the world standard, and to develop high-level professionals with a focus on globalization.
