Establishment of American NPO through the cooperation of 5 universities

Establishment of the U.S.-Japan Research Institute
Holding of international symposium

On April 14th, the U.S.-Japan Research Institute, an American NPO, was established in Washington D.C. through the cooperation of Kyoto University, Keio University, the University of Tokyo, Ritsumeikan University and Waseda University. As a kick-off event for the institute, an international symposium entitled "The New Obama Administration and the Future of Japan-America Relations" was held on March 5th. Many questions were posed by participants, including "How should we cope with America's protected trade?" and "Will there be developments in Japan-China-America relations?"

In order to solve financial problems and various other global problems confronting both Japan and America, the institute seeks to produce concrete results by fully utilizing the personnel of Japanese universities and industries, while also developing young researchers.
