October 10th His Majesty Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain visited Waseda University and delivered a lecture entitled "The Middle East: From the Inside Looking Out". Over 240 participants gathered and listened intently regarding the situation of rapid growth that continues in the Middle East.

October 16th Yale University Day was held to reflect on the historical bonds of Waseda University and Yale University, as well as to further increase future academic exchange between the two universities. Yale President Richard C. Levin received a Waseda Honorary Doctorate Degree and also gave a commemorative lecture. In addition, prominent researchers were invited from Yale University to hold commemorative lectures and symposiums.

November 10th In 1985, Fudan University (China) and Waseda University officially entered into an agreement for academic exchange. This year, 23 years after the agreement was conducted, Fudan University Day was held as a symbol of friendship until this time. Prominent researchers and students were invited from Fudan University, including Fudan University President Wang Shenghong, who holds an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Waseda University. Symposiums and research presentations were held and exchange between students took place.
