"Facing Life in the World Today": A symposium held by the Waseda Institute for Global Health

The Waseda Institute for Global Health was established in April of 2008. The institute held the symposium "Facing Life in the World Today" on May 22nd in order to commemorate the establishment. A panel discussion was held by a collection of distinguished panelists, including a congratulatory address by research advisor Yoshiro Mori (former Prime Minister) and a keynote speech by Yuko Arimori, Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund.

Health problems of individuals such as children and women who have weak positions in the societies of developing countries are a global issue which demands swift response. The impassioned message of this symposium served as an occasion for the many people in attendance to consider what is occurring in the world today and what we are capable of doing.
