Recognition of Activities for International Cooperation in Asia-Pacific Region

Professor Yoshiyori Urano, Dean of the Graduate School of Global Information and Telecommunication Studies, was presented with an award by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications.

Professor Yoshiyori Urano, Dean of the Graduate School of Global Information and Telecommunication Studies at Waseda University, was presented with an award by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications. The award was presented on May 16th, the date of the 40th World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

The award recognizes various major contributions made to activities for international cooperation in the field of information and telecommunications. One such activity is work in the distance learning field of the "Joint Experiment of High-Level ICT for Creating a Hub of International Telecommunications", an experiment which is implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Another activity is fulfillment of a vital role in various measures of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunications Community (APT) with objectives such as promoting the development of telecommunications in the Asia-Pacific Region. At the award presentation ceremony, Professor Urano showed his desire to make further contributions in the field of telecommunications by stating that "This award belongs to everyone who participated in the project. I am looking forward to working even harder in the future."
