Contribution to the promotion of academic exchange and cooperative relation with Italy

Prof. Hideko Magara of Faculty of Political Science and Economics received the award from the Italian government

On March 6, 2008, the ceremony for conferring the Italian orders of merit was held at the Embassy of Italy in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and the Italian ambassador to Japan Mario Bova conferred "Star of Italian Solidarity (Knight)" to Prof. Hideko Magara of Faculty of Political Science and Economics, under the name of the President of the Italian Republic.

Prof. Magara specializes in comparative politics, and has conducted "the study of the political and economic transformations in Italy and Japan" and "the comparative study of structural reform between Japan and Italy," etc., contributing to the promotion of academic exchange and cooperative relation between Japan and Italy. This is the reason for the award.

For this award, Prof. Magara mentioned, "I am really honored to receive such a splendid order. I would like to keep researching Italy, and deepen academic exchange involving students."
